  Villains and Lawbreakers Part 1

One of the biggest problems I see in the media is the need to create victims and villains to make their stories dramatic. The reason this is a problem is that many people who are law abiding citizens are painted as villains and criminals (lawbreakers) are painted as victims. Illegal aliens are criminals, but for some reason they get painted as victims, yes they are often hardworking criminals with families but they are criminals. But for some reason we give their children citizenship and free education, and other social services.

Report: U.N. Responsible in Baghdad Blast

I am used to the United States and Israel being blamed for the actions of terrorist. But now even the UN is being blamed for the actions of terrorist. Why don't we keep it simple. The terrorist are responsible for all of the people they kill. Yes as woman who walks late at night in bad neighborhoods alone is stupid, but she is not responsible for being raped or killed. Yes the UN was stupid and could have reduced the chances of people getting hurt in a dangerous environment but that doesn't make them responsible for the deaths.

  2004 Election Part 1

Despite all the noise about foreign policy. Bush will not lose the election on his foreign policy. His policy is acceptable to most American. Foreign policy is an issue that the Democrats may lose the election with. Bush like his father can lose the election because the economy. Unfortunate what you hear in the news is about the United States economy, well if anyone actually remembered the 2000 election the president is not elected by the country. The president is elected by the states. So what is important is not the national economy but the economy of each state.

So lets start our analysis with looking at the unemployment rate by state. Note only 13 States have unemployment rates over the evil 6% mark.

38 ARKANSAS 6.0
39 DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 6.1
39 LOUISIANA 6.1
39 NEW MEXICO 6.1
42 CALIFORNIA 6.4
42 NEW YORK 6.4
42 NORTH CAROLINA 6.4
42 SOUTH CAROLINA 6.4
46 TEXAS 6.5
47 ILLINOIS 7.1
48 MICHIGAN 7.4
49 WASHINGTON 7.6

I was surprised when I saw the links at the bottom of a Washington post article. Seems like It could be a very good niche for web site builders. Maybe I will get into it.

  DeNile Moves to Iraq
As the bombing disaster early this week is cemented into people's consciousness, three emotions dominate: anger, ambivalence about the U.S. role in Iraq and a desire to lay blame at the door of adversaries rather than fellow Muslims.

"I am sure that the people who did this are enemies of Iraq, not the enemies of the Americans," Dunya Khalil Ismail, a 28-year-old college lecturer, said as she left work Wednesday. "Whether it was the Israelis or the Americans themselves, they are aiming at us.

Does Iraq have a Security Problem ?

After the Ramadan acts the answer is obviously yes. But I think this assessment is wrong. Because security can't be imposed on any society. Think 4 combined bombings 34 dead. In America in one bombing 168 people were killed. It was a tragedy but the existence of crime is not evidence of anarchy.

  Pride and Anti-Pride
At a small social gathering in Baghdad recently, a woman expressed great excitement over the freedom in her life occasioned by the fall of Saddam. In the same breath, however, she added, "but I hate the occupation of my country so much I fantasize about shooting a U.S. soldier." When I suggested a link between U.S. soldiers and Saddam's demise, she replied, "I know that — and you can't imagine how it humiliates me."
The more I read about Arab countries and other nations where Islam has taken hold the sadder I get. I use to be sad for catholic countries but this is out of control, for example "Three Nigerian states halt polio vaccinations over AIDS fears".

Another story of horrible teacher unions

Benefactor withdraws $200 million for charters

DETROIT -- Philanthropist Bob Thompson on Thursday withdrew his offer of $200 million to build 15 charter high schools in Detroit, saying he was saddened by the hostility stirred up by his ambitious plan.

Some 3,000 Detroit Public Schools teachers and their supporters marched last week on the Capitol in Lansing to protest the Thompson schools and the overall expansion of charter schools.
